UpStreetUpStreet is our Sunday morning environment for elementary students in 1st through 6th grade. In UpStreet, students hear over and over that "I can trust God no matter what," "I need to make the wise choice," and "I should treat others the way I want to be treated." These three basic truths come from 252 Basics, a curriculum produced by the reThink Group. Not only is this a curriculum designed for Sunday morning, but it also incorporates little goodies for parents to take an active role in the faith development of their children.
In UpStreet, children begin the morning in a large group worship setting with a host and storyteller who tag-team to communicate the Bible story and main point in a memorable way. Students engage in worship led by adults and their peers. Some mornings they may be called on stage to play a game; other times they may don costumes to help reenact the story. After large group worship, students go to one of three small groups: 1st and 2nd grade, 3rd and 4th grade, and 5th and 6th grade. Small groups are where they make friendships with one another, do activities to reinforce the main point, and learn basic faith skills such as Scripture memory, prayer, and locating Scripture verses.
